Battery Replacement Instructions

IMPORTANT:

If there is evidence of corrosion on the battery leads and/or terminals, do not touch the acidic, corroded areas. This corrosion may also cause improper electrical performance and may require a service call to replace the battery leads.

Observe Polarity while making connections:
The RED WIRE to the RED BATTERY TERMINAL
The BLACK WIRE to the BLACK TERMINAL

  • Remove the leads from the old battery one at a time
  • Put the old battery aside
  • Connect the new battery one lead at a time

The old battery should be disposed of properly. Contact your local township recycle center, call our office for more information, or click here for a list of local, privately owned recycling centers.

Please call our office during normal business hours if you need assistance.

Since GCSI installs various different types of systems, please refer to your owner’s manual or call our customer services department for assistance at 1-877-589-6111

How do I Test my System

In order to test your system you need to call your Central Station and inform them you will be testing your system. You will need your Central Station account number and pass code. (Please call the office for your Central Station information.) After your Central Station is notified:

  • Arm your system like you are leaving the premise
  • Let your keypad count down
  • After the keypad counts down, you "trip" your system by either opening your front door or walking in front of a motion detector
  • Let your siren sound for 10 – 15 seconds and then disarm your system by following your normal disarm procedure
  • Call the Central Station and ask for your test results to confirm that the signal was received
  • If all signals were received at the Central Station ask to have your system taken off of test

Comcast VoIP Service Does Not Integrate Home Alarm Systems

Dec 10, 2009, IRVING, TEXAS -- In a letter presented to the Electronic Security Association (ESA), Comcast has made aware the limitations of its new HomePoint telephone service, which combines a wireless router and the company’s VoIP service. According to Comcast, the VoIP service does not integrate with home alarm systems because of the device’s inability to support the automatic dialing function. The company has provided a sticker notice to customers with each device highlighting its home security system limitations.

New Residential Construction Will Require Sprinklers in 2011

Nov 18, 2009, BALTIMORE -- The International Code Council (ICC) has formally approved a requirement that fire sprinklers must be added to new homes built after Jan. 1, 2011, turning away objections from builders groups who said it would swell construction budgets.

The requirement, which had been strongly supported by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), was included in the International Residential Code (IRC) that was approved by the council after hearings in Baltimore in late October and early November.

Currently 48 states use the IRC as the basis for regulating residential construction. Several of those states have been slow in adopting code updates, according to the IRC Fire Sprinkler Coalition of public safety organizations.

At the hearings in Baltimore, four separate proposels from the National Association of Home Builders were turned away. The council voted 7-4 to reject the request to remove the requirement.

"ICC's message on this matter is pretty clear," says Jeffrey Shapiro, executive director of the IRC Fire Sprinkler Coalition. "Their membership has now supported the home fire sprinkler requirement at both the 2008 and 2009 annual hearings, and each of those votes passed by more than a two-thirds margin."
